  1. I have a small chip in my windshield from a rock (about a millimeter in diameter) and it's right in my view
sight when I'm driving which bugs the heck out of me.
Is this something that I could repair on my own so that it's not noticeable?
I know in the past I've heard radio commercials for chip repair shops that fix these types of glass chips
and usually insurance covers the bill.

  2. Basically, the windshield is a support to the roof of the vehicle, thus making it an integral part of
vehicle. It protects the passengers of the vehicle from the environment and the debris coming from
outside. It is the bounded duty of the driver to take all the precautionary measures to safeguard the
passengers. During an accident or while driving there are chances of the window cracking due to sudden
impact, hitting or falling of some external object.

  3. The windshields made up of safety glass have been in use since 1927. The windshields are actually
laminated automotive safety glass, where the plastic known as polyvinyl butyral which is transparent
is sandwiched between two layers of glass. So when there is an impact, the windshield breaks down into
very small pieces and stick to this middle plastic layer.

Car windshields are tough and are built to last long. A small chip on its surface will however ruin its
complete look. Rain and cold weather conditions can cause a chip to result in a crack and a crack can
    turn into a serious problem.
